You Don’t Know What You Don’t Know
I. We must be Teachable.
a. Because we don’t know what we don’t know, we must stay humble, always ready to listen and learn.
b. This is especially true if we are called to teach others.
c. A skilled, fervent communicator is only an effective Bible teacher if they have proper knowledge and understanding of the Word of God.
II. We must Test Everything.
a. Because we don’t know what we don’t know, we must continually test that which we think we know to ensure we are aligned with the Word of God. (1 Thessalonians 5:19-22)
b. We need to make sure we are not deceived by anything that is not grounded in the Word of God.
III. We must be Prepared to Teach.
a. If we are to be a teachable and testing people, we must also be willing and prepared to teach. (Romans 10:14-15)
b. In order for the Good News of Jesus Christ to continue to spread, in order for God’s church to continue to grow, we must be willing to teach – to share what others have faithfully taught us. (Matthew 28:19-20)
