The Joy of Experiencing God
1 Kings 16:29-17:16
“When the road gets rough, and times get tough – keep going. You’re not alone, God sees and knows what you’re going through. So, keep going.” (Race Day)
Two Keys that Open the Door to Experiencing God’s Faithfulness:
1. Believe and cling to the Word of God (vs. 1-4, 8, 13-14)
- Trust in the supremacy and power of the Word of God (cf. Isa. 55:9-11)
- Believing in and clinging to the Word of God will empower you to live courageously (cf. Ps. 56:3-4)
- The Word of God assures us that when the road gets rough, and times get tough, we are not alone (cf. Dt. 31:6; Ps. 23:4; Rom. 8:38-39)
Who or what do you cling to when you feel overwhelmed and are struggling to keep going? Where does God’s Word rank in priority during those seasons? In order to “thrive” and not just “survive,” believe in and cling to every word that proceeds from the mouth of God (cf. Dt. 8:3). Do not ignore the Word of God or put your trust in anything or anyone else.
2. Listen and do what the Word of God says (vs. 5-6, 10, 15)
- We will experience the wonderful and unlikely ways God keeps His promises when we step out in faith, trust in His Word, and do what He says (cf. Mt. 7:24-25)
- Faithfully listening to and doing what the Word of God says brings stability to our lives when the circumstances around us keep changing (cf. Ps. 119:105; Isa. 26:7, 40:8)
- God’s Word can be trusted (cf. Ps. 33:4; Prov. 3:5-6, 30:5)
If your road is rough and times are tough, I encourage you, keep listening to the Word of God and doing what He says, and you will experience His faithfulness (cf. Num. 23:19; Dt. 7:9; 1 Kings 8:56; Heb. 10:23). Allow His Word to guide you and don’t let your emotions or your circumstances deter you from listening to and doing what God says. If you do, you will experience the joy of His sustaining love, compassion, presence, power, and provision in your life. So, keep going!
“He is the same God. Faithful He has been and faithful He will be.” Be encouraged! Keep going, you are not alone!
