Mercy for the Crying

Blind Bartimaeus Receives His Sight
Mark 10:46-52

Full Service

A miracle is a supernatural act of God that glorifies Jesus – Jared Wilson

  • Jesus is glorified through His compassion for the oppressed – the poor and lowly.
    • Psalm 72:12-14: For he will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help. He will take pity on the weak and the needy and save the needy from death. He will rescue them from oppression and violence, for precious is their blood in his sight.
  • He still cares for everyone, and especially the needy, the poor, the hurting.
    • As we grow as Christians by the power of the Holy Spirit, are we becoming more Christ-like? Do we see and treat people as Jesus did?
    • My prayer is that we would have the same compassion Jesus has for everyone He puts in our path.
  • Jesus is glorified through His ability and desire to grow Bartimaeus’ faith.
    • Jesus wanted to know what he believed Jesus could do for him.
  • Jesus still wants to grow our faith.
    • Mt. 7:7-11: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”
    • How is God growing your faith?
  • Jesus is glorified through Bartimaeus’ faith and spiritual sight.
    • He calls Jesus the Son of David (vs. 47-48)
    • His Persistence (vs. 48)
    • His Prompt Response (vs. 50)
    • His Personal Faith (vs. 51)
  • Is Jesus glorified through our faith?
    • We can be a testimony to the world as we exercise our faith in Jesus, in God. Glorifying Jesus Christ, which in turn will draw others to put their faith and trust in God.
