Jesus is Raised to Life

John 20:1-18

Full Service

Three discipleship essentials based on the first ‘kick off’ Sunday:

1. Keep gathering – to worship Christ (vs. 1)

- Our motivation to gather is to remember and celebrate that Christ has risen from the dead

- If Jesus did not rise from the dead – we have no reason to gather

- Belief in the resurrection of Christ is necessary for being saved

- Christ is the only religious leader who was dead and is now alive and lives forever

- Revelation 1:17-18, “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys to death and Hades"

- Jesus’ bodily resurrection is the crowning proof that He truly is the Messiah, the Son of God who laid down his life for us

In gathering together every Sunday, we testify to one another and to our community that Jesus has risen from the dead!

2. Keep demonstrating – your love for Christ (vs. 1-10)

- The appropriate response to having experienced the transforming power of Christ in your life is to unashamedly demonstrate your love for him and his mission

-Faithfully demonstrating our love for Christ can have a life changing impact on others as well as ourselves.

AM I unashamedly “loving the Lord my God with all my heart and with all my soul and with all my mind and with all my strength?

3. Keep telling – others Christ has risen from the dead (vs. 11-18)

Because he is alive:
- we don’t mourn as those who have no hope
- we will never be alone
- we too will live forever with him

We must not selfishly cling to Jesus. Rather in obedience to his command we must go and tell others the good news that He is alive!
