Experiencing Life

“In HIM was life.”

John 1:1-13

Full Service

To those blinded, existing in hostile darkness, Jesus is the only hope for experiencing life.

The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. God, was the Word, and through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. (1:14,1,2)

1. Jesus is the Word of God, very God himself at work among us, who alone is eternal and the only source of life in the cosmos.

- By the Word, the wisdom and reason of God, everything came into existence that exists.
- Everything that has life is caused by and because of the presence of the Word of God.
- The Word of God entered the world in flesh to shine the light of truth and reality on this dark world.

In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood/overcome it. (1:4,5)

2. The Word of God in flesh, coming into this world, is life-light shining on the hostile darkness of dead existence to bring the life that God lives to those who believe.

“Light”-life (“that life”), the duration and quality of the life God lives, is from Him only, versus “dark”-life, dead existence, hostile to God, that leads to destruction/perishing.

Light or Dark?

Receive OR Fail to recognize, refuse to welcome, not understand, seek to overcome/oppose it?

- Put darkness, disordered desires, passions, fears to flight OR produce them, exist in them?

- Expose reality, welcome transparency, embrace what is real OR resist what is real or exposing what is real, hide evil deeds, reject the light God brings?

- Know the way to go, walk in the way of truth, welcome truth OR lost, reject the way of truth, hostile to Christ-light?

WHAT TO DO? (1:13) Our ONLY Hope!

Welcome Jesus by believing this Word
...these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing, you might have life in his name. (20:31)

- That Jesus really is the Son of God,
- Really trusting in His words that they are true,
- Basing all of your life choices on the foundation of Jesus’ teaching.
