Nehemiah 11-12
How Did They Celebrate What God Had Restored?
I. They Gave Themselves to God.
a. Their physical presence in the city was important.
b. It showed support, trust, obedience, and a commitment to furthering God’s kingdom rather than their own kingdom.
c. It involved sacrifice.
We Must Give Ourselves to God
Every act of giving ourselves to God is significant to God
II. They Gave Their Praise to God.
a. They purified themselves, the people, and the gates and walls.
b. They planned a processional of praise around the city.
c. Everyone participated.
We Must Give Our Praise to God
All of us – not just the choir, not just the worship team - there should be no spectators
III. They Gave Their Gifts to God.
a. Sacrificial giving by the people to support the worship of God.
We Must Give Our Gifts to God
Not out of obligation, but freely, joyfully supporting the work of the church, God’s instrument for the proclamation of the Gospel
