Description

Bedlam is the name of the annual winter retreat put on by the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptists Churches in Ontario. It is aimed at attracting students in grade 7 & 8 who have an interest in developing a relationship with God by learning about him from the Bible. Highlights of the weekend include live music, crazy games, spontaneous prize giveaways, snow tubing  & skiing (weather permitting), basketball tournament, volleyball, floor hockey, art house, wall climbing, a youth oriented speaker, 5 "more than you can eat" meals, separate, heated and supervised accommodations for boys and girls.

Sample Schedule

Friday - Leave Calvary at 5pm School Bus. We arrive around 8 pm. (3 Hour School Bus Trip with bathroom and snack breaks) Students help unload the bus, place stuff in their rooms and have time to tour the camp.  Then we head to our first session for music, prizes and the first opportunity to hear the speaker. Sessions are usually about an hour to 90 minutes long with time devoted equally to various elements. Curfew is usually 11:30 and this means students are in their rooms with their leaders. It doesn't mean that they are asleep!

Saturday - Breakfast (Buffet), Session, Free Time for Tubing, Climbing, Sports, Crafts, Hiking, Lunch (Buffet), Competitions & Free Time for other organized games, Supper (Buffet), Session, Group Time, Night Activities, Curfew.

Sunday - Breakfast (Buffet), Clean Up, Session, Clean Up & then free time, Lunch (Buffet), Load the bus, head home (1 PM).  Arrive at Calvary between 3:30pm and 4:00pm.

Location

Bedlam takes place at Muskoka Woods Sports Resort just outside of Rosseau Ontario.  This facility is a safe, comfortable, professional environment for your children.

Supervision

An adult leader will be assigned to each room our group occupies - students do not stay in unsupervised rooms. Leaders spend the day and evening participating with the kids but please note it is assumed that your child can accept responsibility for him or herself (For instance, they should not need a leader to accompany them to the washroom). Just in case you'd like to know, there are usually at least six people to a room, and there could be more. If girls or boys need to occupy more than one room, they will be allowed to choose whom they room with.

Please bring...

Non-marking running shoes for the gym, warm clothes & coat, hat, mitts, boots, towel, toothbrush & toothpaste, pillow, pyjamas, sleeping bag & pillow, bible, pen, soap, spending money ($15-$20) and deodorant. Also, please limit your stuff to one bag. Please advise us if you intend to bring any sporting equipment like snow boards, or hockey sticks.

Do not bring...

Alcohol, drugs or the like, filthy language, pornographic material, and any items which you would not like to have stolen or revealed in the light of day.  If you want a real retreat experience, leave your personal electronics at home.

(2) You can make cheques payable to Calvary Baptist Church.
