Children and Family Ministries strive to Support Parents And Reach Kids in becoming fully devoted followers of Christ.
We love children and we desire to see them grow and mature in their relationship with Jesus!
Did you know…Parent + Church = 2 Combined Influences that Make A Greater Impact
We are excited to partner with you, the parent or care giver, in your child's spiritual development. Ourprograms and activities are designed with the purpose of reaching kids with the message of the Gospel as well as supporting parents and resourcing them to be the primary spiritual influence in nurturing and discipling their child's walk with God.
Please take advantage of the resources we have available, both in print and on-line. Take time to teach and model to your kids that being a disciple of Christ happens in all aspects of life, not just in the church setting. We are here to support and supplement what is already going on at home.
It's a partnership...neither of us can do this alone! It takes many ministry workers and volunteers to provide care and discipleship for your children. Please consider how you could serve God, reach kids and support other parents. There are many opportunities for you to get plugged in! Not only is it a lot of fun working with kids, but you also get connected with a great community of people who serve alongside of you.
Thank you for trusting your children to the care of our dedicated and loving workers who have the desire to see your child grow in Christ in a warm, safe atmosphere of learning and fun.
Your child’s safety is important to us! It is our desire to provide the safest environment for your children. Thank you for working alongside of us to accomplish that goal.
Sunday morning, all children up to Grade 6 are required to check-in at one of our Computerized Check-In Stations. This system helps us to keep your children safe while they are with us Sunday morning. Once you sign in using the touch screen, each child in your family will be given a label and you (the parent) will be given a claim ticket. The number on the claim ticket corresponds to the number on your child's sticker. This number is used to page you during the worship service and is needed when you pick your child up. Each child MUST wear their sticker and you will need to show your claim ticket to pick up your child at the end of the morning.
A special sign in/out system is used during special events and summer camps.
In all of our programs, children with allergies requiring an epipen MUST have their epipen in order to participate in any activity or program at Calvary. Failure to bring the epipen to the church means that your child will not be able to sign in to their program that day/evening.
All snacks provided at Calvary are nut-free. If your child requires an epipen for food allergies, we require parental permission before giving out any snack or treat. Our leaders will do their best to notify you in advance of any special events involving food so that you will have the opportunity to send in an alternate snack if needed. You may wish to leave a small, labelled bag of treats with your child's leader. We will do our best to accommodate other less severe food allergies, but we cannot guarantee the suitability of snacks served. It is our recommendation that you send snacks with your child if you have any concerns.
We look forward to having your children join us for a morning filled with interactive, biblically-based activities and teaching, in an atmosphere that will disciple your children and will see them grow in their own relationship with Jesus. In the summer months, our program shifts gears and changes over to SPARK City.
Children JK-Gr.6 are dismissed during the worship service.
(Nursery) Newborn through Preschool
FaithLand Jr. is open for your children 15 minutes before each service. After signing in at one of our check-in stations, drop your child off in one of the following areas: Junior Nursery (Newborn/Crawlers), Senior Nursery (Walkers), or Preschool. Your child will play and participate in age appropriate activities and receive a small nut-free snack.
Grades JK through Grade 6
FaithLand begins with a fun activity where children can interact with one another and their leaders. We then have a lesson from the Big God Story and wrap up the open session with worship lead by our Kid’s Worship Team. Children then move into rooms based on their grade where they have small group time.
Every 5 or 6 weeks we meet downstairs in the Fellowship Hall for special time of worship and teaching. We review the truths we have been learning, as well as focus on Missions. Children will have an opportunity to give a special missions offering, which goes towards the Missions Project. Snacks and games make this time together extra fun!
Kids can make a difference! We want to encourage your child to regularly give towards missions. Children will learn the principle of giving to God’s work and they will be challenged to think about missions throughout the year. The Missions Offering will be collected during each Celebrate Sunday. At the Global Missions Conference in October the children present the cheque for the designated project.
Memory verses help to solidify the biblical truths taught each Sunday. They are relevant to what is being taught and provide the practical application of how God is asking each child to live out their faith. Each week children will have the opportunity to say their memory work at our Memory Station. They receive a small prize and get to put their name into a draw for a chance to pick something from our Grand Prize Table. At the end of the year, children who have said all of their bible verses will be awarded a special prize pack and certificate.
Prepare your child for Sunday morning by doing the Homefront Weekly devotional BEFORE you come to church on Sunday!
A free, monthly spiritual parenting resource. This magazine can be picked up in the stairwell and can be read online. The Homefront Mag App can be found at any APP store.
SK – Grade 2
Our children’s choirs perform both a Christmas and Spring musical each year. These performances clearly share the gospel of Jesus Christ and provide a great opportunity to invite neighbours, family and friends. There are many solo and speaking opportunities and we desire to see spiritual and musical growth each week.
Practices are Sunday evenings at 6:00pm during Discipleship Communities.
Proclaim is a group for teens interested in drama and choral speaking. They present at various times throughout the year. Practices are Sunday afternoons at 5:00pm. Contact Ruth Edwards for more information.
Tuesdays 6:30-8:00pm, September - May. For boys and girls in JK-Grade 6.
For students in grade 7 & 8, see our 7/8 Youth ministry (formerly know as T.E.A.M).
Come out for a fun night of activities, hang out with friends, and grow spiritually. Clubs emphasize discipling kids to know, love and serve Christ while building relationships with their friends and leaders.
