Our young adults are growing in Radical Obedience - so I thought I would share some of the year's highlights so far.... JANUARY Our first 'Church on Tap' tackled the subject of "Why Does God Allow Suffering?" This timely subject was brought home to our hearts by the massive earthquake in Haiti. A great mix of Christians and non-Christians gained a renewed sense of hope through the message that was shared, and the band 'Life-Support'. FEBRUARY About 40 young adults made the trek north to Balsam Lake for the 2010 Winter Retreat at the Stacey homestead, here are some of them. In the midst of all the activity we were challenged to live lives of Radical Obedience - both in the moment and in our on-going lives. Many ideas came out of this challenge for the year ahead as you will see as you read on. MARCH One of the first fruits of our Radical Obedience was Dave Hoogsteen's initiative to invite the UOIT students to a ball hockey tournament, to be held here at the church. Out of this, eight teams participated with about 80 guys and covered an interested spectrum of the community. Our Kerygma young adults were excited and motivated by the great response! The final Church on Tap was held the last Sunday in March with Joe Boot (from 'Does God Exist' debate). "Joe Boot may only stand 5'6" but he's 10lbs of dynamite in a 5lb bag! Porn better watch its tail when that wee English man comes 'a calling...Don't miss it! It'll be the fight of your lives". This ad invited young adults at the UOIT campus for a discussion on pornography. IN APRIL - A new Bible study for young adults begins on Monday evenings at the church house. The study is "Crazy Love' from a book by Francis Chan. The cover states, "... the answer to religious complacency isn't working harder at a list of do's and don'ts - it's falling in love with God, and once you encounter His love, you will never be the same." Look for more information, and plan to be there!
